首先我們先來看四個(gè)經(jīng)典案例：

Question 1： Why this college?

在面試過程中，"為什么選擇這所學(xué)校"是最常見的問題，學(xué)生一定要根據(jù)自身的情況結(jié)合學(xué)校的特點(diǎn)來回答。而一般多數(shù)學(xué)生的答案是："因?yàn)榕琶诲e(cuò)，學(xué)校地理位置也不錯(cuò)，所以我選擇它。"雖然很多時(shí)候這的確是事實(shí)，但如果你要申請(qǐng)的是頂尖學(xué)校，需要跟實(shí)力很強(qiáng)的優(yōu)秀學(xué)生競爭，這樣的答案就顯得太一般了。而下面這位學(xué)生在面試普林斯頓和耶魯時(shí)的不同面試回答就很值得我們學(xué)習(xí)一番。

AO: Why Princeton？

Applicant: To prepare for my ream,because Princeton cultivates leaers in science an focuses on unergrauate eucation. It provies much financial support for stuents. Stuents have many opportunities to get financial ai.

AO: What can you o for Princeton if amitte？

Applicant: I am talente in Physics. I can contribute my talent in the college of Physics. An I wish to become an amission interviewer like you.

可以看出這個(gè)學(xué)生在面試Princeton之前并沒有做好準(zhǔn)備，他在回答為什么選擇普林斯頓時(shí)給面試官的感覺是非常注重獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金，而第二個(gè)問題說想成為面試官完全是畫蛇添足，因?yàn)槌蔀槊嬖嚬俸退狡樟炙诡D學(xué)習(xí)物理是沒有聯(lián)系的。相比之下，這個(gè)學(xué)生在耶魯大學(xué)面試的時(shí)候，就發(fā)揮得不錯(cuò)了。以下是他的答案：

"First of all,base on what I learne about Yale,there are five presients from Yale. I think Yale is a goo place which can help me evelop my leaership. 在這個(gè)回答里，學(xué)生對(duì)學(xué)校做了一點(diǎn)研究，從了解耶魯培養(yǎng)了不少領(lǐng)袖人物，到學(xué)校致力于把科學(xué)與藝術(shù)有效結(jié)合的教育目的，分析自己哪些方面是符合學(xué)校培養(yǎng)人才的宗旨的。Why this college這個(gè)問題的重點(diǎn)是要了解被面試的學(xué)生是否已經(jīng)對(duì)該大學(xué)做了很深入地研究，學(xué)生在表現(xiàn)他對(duì)這個(gè)學(xué)校充滿熱情，渴望了解更多的同時(shí)，要巧妙地用適當(dāng)?shù)氖吕w現(xiàn)出他具有哪些特點(diǎn)對(duì)于學(xué)校而言是strong match的。選擇具體的事例說明你對(duì)學(xué)校提供的某個(gè)Program很感興趣往往是一個(gè)不錯(cuò)的選擇。

Question 2： Why your major?

因?yàn)槊绹髮W(xué)學(xué)制設(shè)置的特點(diǎn)和專業(yè)的選擇的自由性，招辦人員一般都很清楚地知道，大多數(shù)高中生進(jìn)入大學(xué)后，很可能會(huì)改變專業(yè)。但是，他們?nèi)韵Ｍㄟ^這一個(gè)問題能看出這個(gè)學(xué)生是否對(duì)自己選擇的專業(yè)已經(jīng)有一些基本的認(rèn)識(shí)，也希望通過這個(gè)問題使學(xué)生還沒有進(jìn)入到學(xué)校的時(shí)候就已經(jīng)認(rèn)真思考過專業(yè)的選擇。學(xué)生在回答這個(gè)問題的時(shí)候除了能夠說出一點(diǎn)對(duì)這個(gè)專業(yè)的認(rèn)識(shí)，最好能夠說明自己是怎樣喜歡這個(gè)專業(yè)，希望通過在這個(gè)學(xué)校學(xué)習(xí)該專業(yè)獲得什么樣的結(jié)果。如果學(xué)生在回答"Why this college?"提到了選擇該校是因?yàn)樵撔Ｔ谀硨I(yè)的教育特別突出，那么，面試官一般就會(huì)跳過"Why your major?"這個(gè)問題了。

比如有一個(gè)申請(qǐng)賓夕法尼亞大數(shù)學(xué)專業(yè)的學(xué)生，她的答案是這樣的：

"Mathematics is most likely what I will major in. I have got istinction awar in AMC an have receive many honors for Math in national or city level competitions. I love Math because,in my view,it is the basis of business,in which fiel I wish to pursue a master egree in Warton Business School. The person who le me to ecie to take Math as my major is a Math Professor from Penn …… Penn provies the best program in Math an I believe that it woul be a ream place for a person like me,who loves Math an wish to get success in Economics."

Question 3:：What o you o for fun?

名校面試官們普遍認(rèn)為多數(shù)亞裔學(xué)生成績都非常優(yōu)秀，但課外活動(dòng)很少，幾乎沒有什么愛好。即使有些活動(dòng)學(xué)生參加了，也似乎能夠看出是為了申請(qǐng)大學(xué)而參加的活動(dòng)或者是學(xué)校組織的活動(dòng)，因?yàn)閷W(xué)生提供的課外活動(dòng)都是非常相似，缺乏個(gè)性。他們就是要通過這一問題，想看看學(xué)生們真正的本我。他們不僅僅想招收高分學(xué)生，他們更看重學(xué)生的創(chuàng)造意識(shí),創(chuàng)造能力以及團(tuán)隊(duì)精神。面試官希望通過這個(gè)問題，了解申請(qǐng)人"在業(yè)余的時(shí)間，不學(xué)習(xí)的時(shí)候，你喜歡做什么"，其目的是要從中發(fā)現(xiàn)這個(gè)學(xué)生將會(huì)為學(xué)校的多姿多彩的校園生活貢獻(xiàn)什么。面試的學(xué)生應(yīng)該展現(xiàn)出自己真正的愛好，在必要的時(shí)候可以出示一些相片或者作品。

回答三步法——why,how,what.

Why o you o it:：一定要是自己的original thought！How i you o it:：what i you fin the most interest uring the process；who i you ask for avice； what i you learn;；were you leaing a team。What is the significance：做好了有什么意義，是否激發(fā)了某方面的學(xué)術(shù)興趣？What oes that bring to your high school career;；i it help you unerstan a subject better，or to what extent i it help you become a kin of person (回到你開頭總結(jié)的三個(gè)關(guān)鍵詞)。

Question 4：What are your three greatest strengths?

其實(shí)這個(gè)問題是給你一個(gè)機(jī)會(huì)說明你的與眾不同。你的回答應(yīng)該是盡可能體現(xiàn)出你是有獨(dú)特思想同時(shí)對(duì)自己有著清醒認(rèn)識(shí)的人。與別的問題不同，這個(gè)問題是絕對(duì)不應(yīng)該出現(xiàn)"I am not sure"這個(gè)說法的。你必須能夠清楚而有條理地陳述兩到三個(gè)自身的特點(diǎn)，并且最好能夠給出一兩個(gè)具體事例支持你的說法。

比如一個(gè)獲得常春藤大學(xué)錄取的學(xué)生是這樣回答這個(gè)問題的：" My first strength is my compassion an leaership. I have organize a volunteer group an some charity activities. …… My secon strength is my creative thinking. I have participate in China Youth Creative Competition an receive the first prize.
