Students at Glen Eira College enjoy the perso nal care and attention characteristic of a smaller seco ndary enviro nment whilst accessing programs and facilities designed to meet today’s global challenge. Student Success

Emphasis is placed on student success through provision of a comprehensive curriculum, a broad range of elective studies and extensive VCE offerings. Challenging co- and extra-curricular programs, together with opportunities for perso nal development and leadership training cater for a variety of individual needs and enable students to develop social and intellectual strengths. University enhancement programs, acceleration and access to extension studies ensure specialist student talents are enriched and nurtured in an enviro nment of encouragement, motivation and celebration.

Glen Eira College recognises the need for provision of both academic and vocatio nal education. In their senior years students have access to Vocatio nal Education and Training (VET) Programs and Pathways Programs, which enable them to gain credits toward subsequent diploma courses. A tradition of excellent VCE results ensures over 90% of graduates progress to the university and TAFE courses of their choice.

Internatio nal Focus

Glen Eira College is proud of its place in the global community with students representing over 50 ethnic groups. Intensive English language tuition is provided at the Glen Eira English Centre and through the mainstream English as a Second Language program. Internatio nal co nnections are encouraged through the use of electro nic communications, global initiatives and overseas tours. Chinese Mandarin and French are taught at the college.

Parent Participation

Glen Eira College stro ngly encourages parent participation in college life in the belief that the partnership between parents, students and teachers is vital to student success. Regular co ntact is maintained with the home regarding student progress and families are encouraged to participate in the life of the college.

Student Engagement Policy Guidelines promote student engagement, attendance and positive behaviours in Victorian government school. Our Student Engagement Policy articulates the school community’s shared expectations in the areas of student engagement, attendance and behaviour. The policy supports the rights and articulates the expectations of every member of the school community to engage in and promote a safe and inclusive educatio nal environment.
