A paragraph is a group of sentences which explain ONE idea. It is separated from the other paragraphs in the assignment by a space. It contains:

A topic sentence

Supporting sentence

A concluding sentence

一個段落的構(gòu)成就像一個 “三明治”：

對于topic sentence,

它是 the first sentence in the paragraph.

它主要包含兩個方面的內(nèi)容：The topic of the paragraph 和 The main idea of the paragraph。

例如：Time management is a very important skill for students and can be broken down into several steps such as planning,prioritising and scheduling of tasks.

之后我們需要多個supporting sentence去支撐我們的topic sentence，

然后，對于段落，我們又可分為觀點性段落和描述性段落，對于觀點性段落(Opinion paragraphs)，supporting sentence 主要是提供 facts and evidence 去證實作者的opinion，

如下圖：

然而，對于描述性段落(Description paragraphs)，它的supporting sentence 主要是提供更多 details/description to explain/give examples of the topic sentence.

示例如下圖：

總之，每個段落都必須要有topic sentence.

The topic sentence starts the paragraph and it gives the main idea of the paragraph. It tells the reader what the paragraph will be about.

此外，寫作者必須包含一些 supporting sentences which include evidence (statistics,specific examples,findings from academic texts,quotes and paraphrases,established facts) to add value to your writing and develop the argument effectively.

在段落的最后，還要有concluding sentence which makes the final point for your paragraph and holds all information together.
